Lungile Zuma

2015 – 2018 Provincial Chairperson of Eyesizwe Contractors • Department of Public Works March 2016 – December 2021 Provincial Chairperson • South African Woman in Construction August 2021 – Current Board Member • Litadox NPC March 2002 – Current Managing Director • Lungi Construction Enterprise cc Construction What started off in 2002 as a humble construction company, turned into my passion for seeing African woman in construction. A previously male dominated industry, that is now being overtaken by people that look just like me. In my years in construction, I gained a new found respect for the profession. The many avenues that existed also presented an opportunity, not just to empower black women, but to also empower the community within which we operated. From laying of foundations to completing the roofing phase, this now runs in my blood. The women I met along the way have groomed me into the strong leader I am today, and the industry we operate in can respect the work of the women that make up SAWIC & BE. Leadership As a leader, one needs to have the ability to adapt quickly to change, this is one of the most critical way of launching any organisation into a new wave of success.

This position requires a focus on customer service. Over the past twenty years, I have gained experience in ways that matter most. In this day and age, it is important to leave a person in a better situation than you have found them and as the Chinese proverb goes: “Give a man fish, feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and feed him for a lifetime”. My roles as chairperson in projects such as Eyesizwe Contractors Development how solidified my passion to lead by example and not merely to be seen. It is time to change the narrative, where leaders are the reason for improvement and not oppression in organisations. There is no better time than now, so 2022 will be the year to do so.
